Artist Inspiration
Mike Mignola is an American comic artist and writer. He is known for creating the "Mignola-verse" for Dark Horse Comics. This includes a collection of titles such as Hellboy, B.P.R.D. and various spinoffs like Lobster Johnson, Abe Sapien, Sir Edward Grey and Witchfinder.
Mignola's style has been described as "German expressionism meets Jack Kirby".
Mignola's art influences mine because of its simplistic style which uses large black areas that give his drawings depth and drama. I also like his use of colour contrast in some of his comic pages. My art style shares aspects of his because I prefer to use a simplistic style and bold black areas.
Yusuke Murata (born July 4, 1978)
Yusuke Murata is a Japanese manga artist from Miyagi. He is best known for illustrating One's One-Punch Man, serialized in the Weekly Young Jump online version.
His style has been influenced by Kinu Nishimura, the character designer of many Capcom games, and Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball.
I am influenced a lot by how Murata draws action and fight scenes in his comics because they express movement really well using only still images in each comic panel.
In One Punch Man, the minimalistic, cartoon-like facial features of the main character, Saitama reflect the look of my main character, Alex. His face and body change slightly to fit the mood, much like I have done with Alex in the first issue. I like this minimalistic look for a main character because it makes them stand out and makes for a more relatable character for readers.
Dave Gibbons is an English comics artist, writer and sometimes letterer. He is best known for his collaborations with writer Alan Moore, creating comic books such as Watchmen and the Superman story "For the Man Who Has Everything". He was an artist for the UK anthology 2000 AD, for which he contributed a large body of work since its first issue in 1977.
I like Gibbons' art because of its classic comic look, resembling early superhero comics style. This influences my style because I prefer the style used in old comic books to modern ones which are usually much too detailed for my taste. I am influenced by the way he draws characters and their proportions, and the composition of his pages.
Jean Giraud

Jean Giraud was a French cartoonist best known under his pen name “Moebius”.
As Mœbius he created a wide range of science fiction and fantasy comics in a highly imaginative, surreal, almost abstract style. These works include Arzach, The World of Edena, and the Airtight Garage of Jerry Cornelius.
I have been influenced by the simplistic way Giraud creates texture, and folds and creases on clothes, particularly in his comic The World of Edena.
