Artwork computer editing

I created these pieces to test the effectiveness of using the gradient map feature on Photoshop to add colour to a black and white drawing. I created two colour variations. I then used the image trace feature on Illustrator to make it a vector image which doesn't use pixels so all the lines are crisp and smooth.
This technique was very effective and easy to create as I could just map colours to different shades in the original image.
I like how both images turned out, the gradient map helped add more depth to the drawing as darker colours appeared under the cheek and the chin, and in the blue variation it looks like he is glowing with a bright blue on the right side of the face. Overall I prefer the blue variation.
