Conflict poster

I created this poster for a story in Sanctuary about a conflict between two groups; The Network (a pre-war secret police that worked for the president of the British empire and still operates under his name) and the Alle Haigle (a secret organisation in Sanctuary lead by Oscar, the leader of Sanctuary. They help Oscar retain order in his town. They also have a secret army of automats (robots) that were stolen from the Network and modified).

I drew the poster on paper, inked it in and scanned it into the computer.

I put the image on to Photoshop, cut the image in half using the lasso tool, and made a layer via the cut-out half copy. I used the gradient map tool to map red shades to the right half and purple shades to the left half. I merged the correct gradient map layer to each image layer and the result was a coloured version of my drawing with the Network in purple and Alle Haigle in red. I exported this as a PNG, put it on Illustrator, and used the image trace effect to smooth out the coulours and lines. Then I put the image back on Photoshop, used the magic wand tool to remove the background and put a black rectangle in the background.

I used the two emblems I drew in my book and I put them onto photoshop, used the magic wand tool to remove the background. Then I used the gradient map tool to make the Network emblem purple and the Alle Haigle emblem red.
I put these in the background behind each leader's head.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, its exactly how I imagined it. It looks really professional and the colours are dramatic, the purple and red surprisingly work well together because they compete for your attention.
If I could improve anything about it I would add more shades of red to the gradient map on the Alle Haigle side so it is more consistent with how I did the Network side, which features grey purples and a dark purple as well as the main shade of purple. I think this looks really effective.

The Network
The name "Network" represents how the entire organisation was connected across the entire empire, meaning they were virtually everywhere and no one's secrets were safe. They still survive now but with the lack of the President and a robot army they are fractured and struggling.
Their main goal is to bring back their president who was transported to another dimension by a machine, called the transmitter, to escape the effects of the great earth war.
However they also wish to exact revenge on Oscar, who was the Network's original founder before the war, but betrayed the president by destroying the transmitter after he was transported away from earth.

Alle Haigle
The name is derived from the German "alle hagel" which means "all hail". They are unknown to almost all of the residents of Sanctuary. They worship the omnipresent deity "Omnipod" (the all seeing eye) which is the inspiration for their emblem. The eye symbol can be found all over Sanctuary to subconsciously remind people that a greater power is watching them, be it Oscar or a god.
Their purpose is to prevent anyone knowing too much, and prevent anyone becoming too powerful in sanctuary, kidnapping and killing anyone who does. They also carry out outside operations against potential threats, such as Network spies, or armies intent on taking over Sanctuary. They sometimes use automats to eliminate large threats.
